Long Term Planning Framework South Sudan 2012-2015
On 9 July, 2011, the Republic of South Sudan became the world’s newest country and the South Sudan Red Cross (SSRC) the newest National Society in process of being created. Ongoing support is required to grow a well-functioning National Society that is able to face the numerous challenges in this fledgling country. The IFRC’s South Sudan country office is there to support the National Society at this crucial stage in their development.
The small and efficient IFRC country office is mandated to maintain 3 key roles: to build th capacities of the National Society; representation, and coordination of Movement partners in South Sudan in support of SSRC.
South Sudan Red Cross, with the ongoing commitment from IFRC’s South Sudan country office and partners, has the potential to become the leading indigenous humanitarian service provider in the country. To meet this aim, the IFRC South Sudan country office is seeking CHF 23,132,296 over four years to provide sustained assistance to development of a robust National Society.
