ACTED to address IDP needs in Mogadishu
NAIROBI [ACTED News] – The REACH mapping tool has been deployed by the Somalia shelter cluster to support the mapping of internally displaced people (IDP) camps in Mogadishu and will provide coordinated assistance to displaced populations. GIS mapping is currently underway in two large IDP camps in the city. In the last week of July, ACTED deployed a team to Mogadishu to train enumerators and coordinate secondary data gathering. Field data collection will be triangulated with remote sensing and secondary data to produce a series of maps that will be used by humanitarian actors in the planning and coordination of assistance to two IDP camps in Mogadishu: Zona K and Camp 77. A much wider assessment is currently being planned for September.
