Solomon Islands: Government's initial help to bad weather victims

The government is providing more than one-million dollars worth of emergency relief supplies in its initial help to people of Guadalcanal who have been affected by the bad weather.

Guadalcanal Premier Stephen Panga told SIBC News yesterday that these relief supplies are being transported by ship to various locations today.

Mr Panga says the Provincial Disaster Council yesterday met with those from the National Disaster Management Office and others to plan what to do to help the victims of the bad weather.

Meanwhile, he says the Province would welcome help from both individuals, groups and others to help those that are being affected by the bad weather.
