Compilation of laws applicable in Kosovo
Pristina, 20 November 2002 - Due to the interest shown by local and international lawyers for "The Compilation of Laws Applicable in Kosovo", the Kosovo Law Centre has enriched the series of compilations published so far by publishing the 3rd volume of Compilation IV on the Applicable Administrative Law in Kosovo..
This compilation contains approximately 1000 pages in three languages (Albanian, Serbo-Croatian and English) and offers to users the UNMIK regulations and administrative directives which regulate economical, social, business and employment issues. Regulations and administrative directions included in this compilation are in chronological order as they were originally issued. This compilation also contains regulations that have been changed or impregnated into other regulations.
Very soon, KLC is planing to enrich this compilation with Volume IV, which will contain applicable law on general administrative procedures from 1986 and the law on administrative disputes from 1977 which are applicable in Kosovo according to Regulation 1999/24 on the Applicable Law in Kosovo.
Previous editions of compilations contain the following laws:
- Compilation I, contains Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law;
- Compilation II, contains Laws on Marriage and Family issues, Minor Offences, Regular Courts, Public Prosecutions Services and Traffic Safety;
- Compilation III, contains Laws on Real Estate, and
- Compilation IV, volumes 1, 2 contains UNMIK regulations and administrative directives on establishing of institutional structures in Kosovo;
The KLC is an NGO which was established in June 2000 by the OSCE as part of its institution-building mandate. The Centre serves as a legal think-tank devoted to the cultivation of professional legal skills by providing technical and material assistance to the legal community. KLC's goal is to promote democratic principles, multiculturalism, high ethical standards, human rights, and the rule of law. The Centre has been working closely with the UNMIK Department of Education on reforming the Law Faculty. It also runs various legal education projects (Practical Legal Clinics, Continuous Legal Education, Street Law, etc.) and is active in publishing and disseminating legal materials, as well as in legal research.
