July 24, 2015: 66,053 Burundian refugees registered in camps and urban areas, while 4,177 in Kigali and 842 in Huye remain pending with appointments for registration.
As of July 24th , 2015, the number of registered Burundian refugees had reached 66,053 in Rwanda.
among them 46,982 are hosted in different transit centers and Mahama camp as follow:
· Gashora Reception Centre , in Bugesera District in Eastern Province: 14,572
· Nyamiyaga a reception Centre, in Nyanza in the Southern Province :1,129
· Nyagatare Transit Centre: Rusizi District in the Western Province : 761
· Mahama refugee camp: Kirehe District in the Eastern Province : 30,520
Those hosted in camps comprise 12,320 men, 11,427 Women, 23,235 Children.
in addition to those living in Mahama camp and transit centers , 16,838 other Burundian refugees were registered in Kigali City and 2,233 in Huye.
through the ongoing process of registration for urban refugees, 4,177 refugees in Kigali City and 842 in Huye.
MIDIMAR in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), UN agencies, International organizations and other implementing partners are providing to those refugees basic assistance such as shelter, food, Non-Food items (NFIs), water and sanitation facilities, health services and handling other needs as required by the refugees’ protection standards.
