In Rwanda, about 300 rebels have launched
an attack in the country's north, killing eight civilians.
Two rebels were also killed.
The Rwandan news agency, citing military
sources, says the rebels were armed with rifles and machetes.
The attack ended after the Rwandan Patriotic
Army intervened.
Rwanda continues to be plagued by clashes
between government forces and Hutu militiamen.
The Rwandan Patriotic Front ousted the
Hutu regime in 1994 after a devastating civil war which left more than
500,000 people dead.
