MARIKINA CITY, Sept 18 (PIA) -- Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines) Inc. has donated several rescue and relief equipment to the city government of Marikina.

In a statement, the equipment received were safety helmets, safety gloves, life vests, rescue cans, fiber glass urban bulldog rescue boats, engine frames, 25hp outdoor motors, trailers, and a light tower with silent diesel generator.

Kitchen equipment were also donated such as soup ladle, stock pots, stock pot burners, rice cookers, kitchen knives, chopping boards, working tables, basins, and a wok ladle with wooden round handle.

During the turnover ceremony Monday, September 17 at the City Hall Quadrangle, Mayor Del De Guzman said the donated equipment will be a big help in their rescue and relief operations.

“These donations are a big help as some of our rescue and relief equipment were broken during the habagat onslaught. We are very lucky having Toshiba helping us prepare for future possible calamities,” De Guzman said.

The city government is currently conducting creek cleanups and rehabilitation efforts to prevent floodings in the future.

“This is very helpful to Marikina as we cannot totally avoid flooding because of the city’s geography. With these donations, we can surely carry out our rescue and relief operations more effectively,” Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz said. (MARIKINA-PIO/RJB/JEG-PIA-NCR)
