Philippines: Typhoon Bopha Situation Report No. 1 (as of 4 December 2012)
Key Highlights:
Typhoon Bopha (locally known as Pablo) made landfall in Davao Oriental province in eastern Mindanao on 4 December with a Category 5 status.
Close to 56,500 people are in 111 evacuation centres in the worst-affected areas in Regions VIII, X, XI, and CARAGA.
The Government of the Philippines, supported by the Humanitarian Country Team, will conduct a joint rapid damage and needs assessment in Mindanao from 5 to 7 December. Further areas for assessment will be identified as Bopha proceeds westwards in the coming days
