1. Situation Overview

The weather disturbances monitored from February 2-9, 2009 were the following: diffused tail end of cold front affecting Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao; northeast monsoon; shallow low pressure area (SLPA) located at 510 kms east of northern Mindanao, 200 km s east of Puerto Princesa City1200 krns southwest of Iloilo City and low pressure area (LPA) at 210 kms south southwest of Puerto Princesa City.

2. Effects

As a result of these weather disturbances, heavy rains were experienced in Regions V, Vll and VIII which triggered the occurrence of flashflood (Regions V) flashflood, landslides and sea mishap (Region VII) and big waves (Region VIII).

Affected Areas - 83 brgys, 3 cities, 18 municipalities, 5 provinces in Regions V, VII and Vlll

Affected Population (2,968 families/14,740 persons)
