NDRRMC Update: Sitrep No.7 re Effects of April 2017 Series of EQs in Batangas
I. SITUATION OVERVIEW:
A phenomenon called earthquake swarm is currently happening at Batangas. An earthquake swarm is a burst of earthquake activity clustered in a specific area in a short period of time due to movement of a fault. The Batangas swarm started on 04 April at 8:58 PM and is still ongoing to date.
The following are the recorded earthquakes with the magnitude of 4.0 and above, which occurred in the province since 04 April 2017.
A. INCIDENTS MONITORED
As of 11 April 2017, a total of three (3) incidents were reported in Calabarzon. Of which two (2) are landslides and one (1) ground rupture.
B. AFFECTED POPULATION
To date, a total of 6,480 families or 28,849 persons were affected. Of which, 5,751 families or 25,204 persons were served and took temporary shelter in 64 evacuation centers in the Province of Batangas.
A total of six (6) injured were reported in Batangas Province of which one (1) is from Mabini, four (4) from Tinglo, and one (1) from Batangas city.
D. DAMAGED HOUSES
To date, a total of of 3,263 damaged houses were reported in the Province of Batangas. Of which, 568 were totally damaged and 2,695 were partially damaged.
