NDRRMC Update: Sitrep No.07 re Effects of Continuous Rains in Mindanao

I. SITUATION OVERVIEW:

• Since 10 July 2017, the Province of Maguindanao has experienced light to moderate continuous rains due to local thunderstorms. This resulted to the swelling of tributaries of Mindanao River Basin particularly the Pulangi River, Mindanao River and Ligawasan.

▪ As of this date, a total of 26 barangays in Cotabato City were reported flooded due to overflowed Rio Grande de Mindanao River caused by continuous heavy rainfall.

• A total of 13 barangays in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat were reported flooded due to overflowed Allah River caused by continuous heavy rainfall since 15 June 2017.

II. EFFECTS:

A. INCIDENTS MONITORED

  1. On 18 July 2017, 6:00 PM, minor landslide incidents occurred in Barangays Nangi, Borongotan, Blensong, Nuro, Darugao, Rempes, and Kaba-kaba, all in the Municipality of Tupi, South Cotabato.

  2. On 19 July 2017, 9:00 PM, stro_rig wind incident occurred at Barangay Martires, Jolo, Sulu which uprooted a tree. Six (6) persons sustained minor injuries.

  3. On 26 July 2017, a strong wind incident was reported in Barangay Larap, Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.

B. AFFECTED POPULATION (TAB A)

  1. A total of 93,573 families or 459,435 persons were affected in Cotabato City and in the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao. Of which, 510 families/ 2,550 persons were evacuated in three (3) evacuation centers in Cotabato City. All evacuated families returned to their respective houses.
