MANILA, Feb 22 (AFP) - Eleven people drowned and 21 others were missing in flooding which hit an area in the southern Philippines last weekend, rescuers said Monday.

Two days of continuous rain caused the Larapan river to overflow, destroying three bridges in the town of Kauswagan and damaging 80 houses in Kauswagan, the city of Iligan and the municipality of Linamon, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said in a report.

The floodwaters displaced about 1,000 people and three were injured, it added.
