DOLE allots P5.11M as emergency employment for Central Luzon monsoon victims

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Aug 17 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allotted P5.11 million in emergency employment assistance to 3,100 displaced residents in Central Luzon affected by the two-week severe flooding caused by the southwest monsoon.
“Funding for the grant came from our Adjustment Measures Program (AMP) for the Prevention of Job Losses and Assistance to Displaced Worker,” DOLE Regional Director Raymundo Agravante said.
Agravante said, “AMP is intended to assist displaced workers from employment, wage or self-employed, due to closure or slowing down of operations of companies as a result of economic disruptions and occurrence of natural disasters, calamities or armed conflicts affecting the economic base or activities of the communities.”
Bulacan has the most number of recipients at 1,000 followed by Pampanga, 800; Bataan and Zambales with 500 each; and Tarlac, 300.
Beneficiaries are tasked to clear canals, drainage and waterways as well as clean schoolhouses, barangay halls, public markets affected by the recent debacle for 10 days. (CLJD/JGB-PIA3)
