ILIGAN CITY/Mindanao Hour, July 30 (PIA)--The Provincial Government of Cebu donated a check amounting one million pesos for the victims of the ongoing conflict in Marawi City.

The Office of the Mayor, Marawi City, represented by City Treasurer, Anggay M. Abdullah accepted the donation from Baltz S. Tribunalo Jr., Provincial Government Department Head, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRM-Cebu).

Tribunalo shared that it was during their PDRRM Council meeting when one of the members proposed that they need to send support for the Marawi conflict victims. With the consent from Governor Hilario P. Davide III, the financial assistance was immediately approved.

“The Governor hopes it can give support in whatever ways. We decided to give cash so that the Mayor [of Marawi City] and the council can make their own choices and options which can be used in services like psycho-social processing,” Tribunalo said.

Abdullah was grateful for the support given by the provincial government of Cebu and shared that their Mayor wanted to give any kind of donations to the victims of the conflict.

The turned-over of check donation was witnessed by officials from the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD regions 10 and ARMM) and other members of the inter-agency cluster response, at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), Mahogany Hills, Pala-o, Iligan City.

The provincial government of Cebu has also allocated P1M each for Kananga and Ormoc, Leyte, for being recently affected by 6.5 magnitude earthquake, disclosed Tribunalo.(PIA-10 LDN)
