ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, July 26 -- The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) will start construction of houses for the families affected by the tropical storm Sendon.

The CRS will build 355 houses as transitional shelters or temporary shelters while permanent houses for affected families are not yet available, said Elizabeth Tromans, head of CRS for Cagayan de Oro-Iligan City, during her courtesy call to Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz last July 11.

Sixty-four (64) houses will be built in the relocation site next to Kapuso Village of Barangay Mandulog for the beneficiaries residing at Tubaran Elementary School of Mandulog. The local government of the barangay concerned and the city of Iligan will be partners of CRS.

One-hundred ten (110) temporary shelters will be built at Upper Tominobo for Sendong survivors that are now at Siao Shelter Box. The Diocese of Iligan and the newly organized Neighborhood Association for Shelter Assistance (NASA) will be partners of CRS.

One hundred eighty-one (181) houses will be built at Siao Shelter Box Tent City at Barangay Luinab for beneficiaries there and to become partner for CRS is Councilor Freddie Siao and Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Cluster of Rehabilitation Program of the city of Iligan.
