6.5 M Earthquake Leyte, Philippines

Based on the situation report by NDRRMC as of 7 July 2017, two deaths have been reported in Kananga and Ormoc City, Leyte. 72 have been injured in Kananga, Ormoc City and Carigara. A Landslide was also reported in Jaro, Leyte following the earthquake. Although power has been restored in some areas, power interruptions are still being experienced in parts of Leyte Province.

The national, regional and provincial authorities have conducted assessments and provided assistance to include search and rescue and emergency medical aid. The response to the earthquake is led by provincial authorities with support from national agencies. The response to the earthquake is well within the capacity of the Government of the Philippines.
