SITUATION OVERVIEW

4.8 million people have been affected by the 2012 monsoon floods, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

UNICEF KEY ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2012

  • 505,367 people reached with safe drinking water

  • 423,363 people provided with hygiene messages

  • 227,160 children treated for diarrhea by Lady Health Workers

  • 155,533 children and 66,887 pregnant and lactating women screened for malnutrition

  • 67,667 insecticide-treated bednets distributed

  • 33,748 children enrolled in 480 Temporary Learning Centres

  • 11,617 children and 3,601 women attending Protective Learning and Community Emergency Services (PLaCES)

UNICEF is the lead agency for coordination for WASH, Education (with Save the Children), Nutrition and Child Protection. UNICEF is providing 94% of the Education Cluster response and 60% of the WASH Cluster water supply response.
