Qatar Charity Distributes Relief Items To Victims of Floods in Pakistan

Fakhro: QR.13.000.000 for Relief Efforts in Pakistan

In continuation to its efforts for the victims of the floods in Pakistan, Qatar Charity has started distribution of urgent relief items transported from Dubai via Lahore and Islam Abad airports last week.

In a press release, Mr. Khalid Fakhro, director of public relations and resources development department at Qatar Charity, said : " The two field offices of the Charity at Swat and Rajimpur started to distribute the first shipment of relief items,40 tones transported via Qatar Airways last Sunday. This shipment includes canned meat, mattresses, blankets, full sets of kitchens, mobile wcs, cleaning materials, cooking burners and mosquitoes. The second part of the shipment will arrive in the coming few days. The whole shipment will be 80 tones of relief items at a cost of QR.2.2 million. This shipment was transported from the Charity's strategic stockpile at Dubai.

Thousands of beneficiaries

Thousands of poor families benefited from Qatar Charity's relief efforts during the first 23 days of the present month. The Charity's field relief teams distributed 37000 of food packages, 11500 ready meals, 3160 cartons of children's milk,200 tents,1200 plastic covers and forage for animals of 2300 families. The total amount of cost reached QR.13.000.000, financed by the Charity and its global partners (e.g. DFID) who cooperate with the Charity to benefit from its field experience and local offices. They concentrated on foodstuffs and sanitation projects."

Donations Campaign

In the same vein, Mr Fakhro stated : "Qatar Charity continues its donations campaign in association with al-Sharq paper through its branches and field collectors, in addition to hotline no.44667711.For the same goal, Doha bank donated QR 100.000,'Abdul Jalil 'Abdul Ghani donated QR. 250.000,AL-Ahmadani Co donated QR.100.000 and Educational Center of 'Abdullah 'Abdulghani donated QR.50.000. We hope to collect QR.10.000.000 in order to meet the tragic effects of the catastrophe. I do urge our brothers the philanthropists, local and expatriates, to help us achieve our goal in this holy month, during which rewards are doubled."
