PRCS to get US $ 12.2 m for rehab projects in flood affected areas
ISLAMABAD: The UAE Red Crescent Society is supporting Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in construction and rehabilitation projects worth US $ 6.1 million in the flood affected areas of Punjab besides launching the same project in Sindh flood affected areas that will also cost US $ 6.1 million.
This was told at a briefing at the PRCS Disaster Management and Logistic Centre during the UAE Ambassador H E Essa Abdulla Al Bash Al Noaimi here on Thursday.
handover 223 houses to the most vulnerable Earthquake 2005 affected people of Balakot and Garhi Habib Ullah next month besides construction of 40 mosques all across the country, vocational training centre in AJK and 200 new tube wells for the most vulnerable.
PRCS chairperson Nilofar Bakhtiar welcomed the UAE Ambassador at the PRCS Headquarters.
She said that the UAE Red Crescent in collaboration with the PRCS has decided to support the 1100 deserving and needy people of Sindh by giving a donation of one buffalo to the most affected family.
Nilofar said that on behalf of the PRCS would thank the initiative of zakat distribution to the needy and a list of 350,000 people have been submitted.
PRCS Secretary General Brig Dr Mehaboob Sardar speaking on the occasion commended the significant contribution of the UAE in achieving the humanitarian objectives of the PRCS during the past few years.
He said that the UAE Red Crescent has always been in the forefront and provided assistance in the hour of need.
PECS Director Operations Muhammad Ateeb Siddiqui gave a detailed presentation on the occasion.
