Islamabad [ACTED News] - As a result of two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 6.8 on the Richter scale, that hit districts Awaran and Kech in Baluchistan in late September, as many as 30,000 families were devastated by the destruction of shelter, infrastructure and basic health and hygiene facilities. ACTED will provide 2,202 Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) kits and 734 emergency latrines to meet the immediate WASH needs of the affected, with the support of UNOCHA’s Emergency Relief Fund. At the same time, ACTED will also provide 3,500 non-food item kits donated by Alliance2015 partner Welthungerhilfe to support the families in district Awaran. The distribution of aid items will be carried out by local NGO HANDS.
