Pakistan: Pak-Turk Foundation spends $30 million on various projects in quake- hit areas

MUZAFFARABAD, Apr 6 (APP): Pak-Turk Foundation has spent 30 million US dollars on various projects including reconstruction of 11 educational institutions and relief and health related activities in quake-hit areas of AJK and NWFP.
Ramzan Erdem, Coordinator of the Pak-Turk Foundation said while briefing the Pakistani and Turkish media team during the visit of a completed school/collage project here on Thursday.

Turkish engineers, consultant, doctor of the Turcon Ms Ayfer Kurklu and other members were also present during the briefing.

Ramzan said seven project including construction of six schools and collages be completed in the areas, while another project of AJK University, old campus, which is also being reconstructed in the state capital city of Muzaffarabad.

Pak Turk Foundation coordinator added that four schools buildings were being built in Balakot and Mansehra areas of NWFP.

The work on the reconstruction of educational projects in AJK has been completed and the six collages and school buildings would be handed over to the education department authorities by the end of current month, Ramzan added.

He said $ 4 million have been incurred on the 10 educational projects while $ 3.5 would be spent on the AJK Old university campus project.

He said that 23 rooms have been constructed in each building of the school besides three labs for biology, Physics, computer, library, auditorium, principal, Admn, staff offices and other related items were being provide by the NGO. Seventeen computers will also be provided to each school, he added.

Erdem said that this was their gift for the quake-hit brethren in this hour of trial.

Besides the educational projects, medical facilities were also being made available to the affectees in different areas through mobile teams and in the three tented villages established in the outskirts of Muzaffarabad, adding some 25,000 survivors were also provided OPD medical services so far as he said some six tons medicines were also provided to the patients.

About the future planning he informed the journalists that a 100-bed hospital equipped with latest facilities would also be constructed by the Pak-Turk Foundation in AJK.

Giving the details about the projects he said all the buildings were being constructed quake-resistant as pre-fabricated material imported from Turkey was being used in the construction work.

He said that $ four million would be spent on the ten schools while $3.5 million have been reserved for the construction of AJK university old campus in Muzaffarabad city.

The seven educational institutions being built in Muzaffarabad include AJK University old campus, Govt.

Post Graduate Collage for Boys, Govt. Post Graduate Collage for Women, Govt. Pilot School No.1 for boys, Govt. Narul Girls School, Govt.

Girls School city and Govt. Ali Akbar Awan High School upper Chattar.

The K.H.Khurshid National Stadium located beside the AJK university old campus would be renovated, as lights will also be installed in the stadium, Erdem added.
