Flood-affected families assisted in Pakistan

Islamic Relief has begun distributing much needed aid to flood-affected families in Pakistan.

Working in the Haveli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), our emergency teams have now provided relief items – including tents and kitchen sets – to vulnerable families in Hotter village, Chanjal union council.

The distribution is set to continue in other communities in the coming days, with Islamic Relief planning to extend its emergency response to reach the worst-hit families in Punjab.

Millions affected across two countries

In Pakistan, more than 2.2 million people have been affected by the unfolding disaster – which has so far killed over 300 people in the country. Almost 1.7 million acres of cropland have been affected, 3,100 villages inundated and over 45,000 houses damaged. Floodwaters are moving south and have now entered Sindh province.

The flooding and subsequent landslides – which were triggered by late-monsoon rains – is also devastating communities in India, where Islamic Relief is responding through our local partner to assist affected families.

Islamic Relief is appealing for £1 million GBP to support our work to assist families that have lost everything to the floodwaters. Please donate to our India and Pakistan floods appeal today.
