WASH Cluster oPt Monthly Situation Report - Number 48, June 30th, 2012
• At mid-year review, only 38% of the WASH CAP appeal has been funded, out of which 22% is dedicated to Gaza specific needs.
• In May 2012, UNRWA was able to bring 384 trucks into Gaza for their sewage, water systems and re-housing projects in Khan Younis. The Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) coordinated the entry of 84 truckloads of materials for the NGEST project and the SIDA project. OCHA reports that seven truckloads entered Gaza with chlorine, bringing the total number of truckloads that entered the coastal enclave carrying WASH materials in June to 475.
• The fuel crisis in Gaza continues to largely affect the WASH service provision with up to 40 per cent of the population accessing water once every four days only. The situation is expected to further exacerbate over the summer season.
