Financial aid arrives for cyclone-stricken Buthidaung

Director-General Dr. Ko Ko Naing from the Ministry for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Maungtaw District Administrator U Ye Htut and officials from various departments travelled to the various villages in Buthidaung Township yesterday to provide financial aid for the reconstruction of houses and buildings destroyed by Cyclone Mora four days ago, in the hope that people will have shelter before the rainy season sets in.

Director-General Dr. Ko Ko Naing said field inspections for the reconstruction of the houses have been completed and there will be future inspections and financial aid for the remaining houses in other areas. Daw Hla Sein Phyu, a resident of Gwa Sone village, said that the next day after the devastating effects of the cyclone, the Ward Administrator came to collect the names of villagers whose houses were destroyed. She also said that the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement gave her Ks1 lakh yesterday.

The Department for Relief and Resettlement continues to collect data in the affected areas with cooperation from the District Administration Department, Township Administration Department and local residents.
