500 000 Euro for Mine Victims Support

The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany granted 500 000 Euro support to the International Red Cross Society to finance the project “ICRC – Physical Rehabilitation in Myanmar 2015".

The project activities shall mostly focused on improvement of the living conditions of the affected population in Kachin State, Rakhine State and Shan State.

On the one hand gadgets for the disabled are provided to help them master their daily life a lot easier and to open up new chances for them in their following personal and professional life. Prosthetic feet, support to rehabilitation centers, physiotherapy and other assistive devices are part of the support given by the German Government.

What needs to be mentioned additionally is the immaterial help that can be continued using the funds. Mine victims can attend first-aid workshops, sport activities, courses on security within mine-dominated areas and social reintegration programs. By supporting such a broadly based project the German Government hopes to ensure security and a brighter future for both the victims and their families.
