UNHCR OPERATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Upon the request of the Minister of Interior, UNHCR carried out a physical verification exercise in Maratane, Nampula and Maputo of asylum-seekers whose cases are pending endorsement by the Minister and submission to the National Eligibility Committee (CCR). In June, the CCR is to hold two sessions for the first time since 2012 to adjudicate cases of 843 persons.
In June, UNHCR together with IOM organized a National Consultation on Mixed Migration as a preparation to the 2014 MIDSA.
At the request of the authorities, UNHCR conducted Code of Conduct session on 20-21 May for all governmental and operational partners in Nampula and Maratane including refugee leaders and refugee camp management teams.
In May 2014, WFP conducted jointly with UNHCR a Cash and Voucher Feasibility Study. At the same time an external evaluation of the WFP project on Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation including in Maratane camp has been completed. Preliminary results confirm its appropriateness to address food security needs of the refugee population.
