USAID/OFDA Regional Advisor Conducts Field Assessment in Southern Laos

With USAID/OFDA support, the U.N. Children's Fund(UNICEF) is installing wells in communities relocated following Typhoon Ketsana (Photo by Brian Heidel, USAID/OFDA).

From March 3 to 10, USAID/OFDA regional advisor for East Asia and Pacific Brian Heidel traveled to communities affected by Typhoon Ketsana in Sekong Province, as well as met with Government of Laos (GoL) representatives and relief agency partners in the capital city of Vientiane.

USAID Staff Travel to Dzud-Affected Areas in Mongolia

USAID Representative Chuck Howell and USAID/ OFDA regional advisor for East Asia and Pacific Ron Libby visited Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, and Dundgovi, three of the five provinces hardest hit by severe winter conditions, or dzud, as well as assessed humanitarian conditions. The team met with local and national Government of Mongolia (GoM) officials, U.N. and non-governmental organization (NGO) representatives, and herder families.

USAID/OFDA Provides Life-Saving Assistance to Cyclone-Affected Communities in Fiji

USAID/OFDA contributed $100,000 to the Fiji Red Cross Society (FRCS) for the provision of emergency relief supplies to families affected by Tropical Cyclone Tomas.
