Zika and Dengue Outbreak Overview

On March 15, 2016 Kosrae State was notified of its first confirmed case of Zika. Kosrae subsequently implemented routine Zika/Dengue/Chikungunya testing of all pregnant women. On October 21st, routine testing of pregnant women identified a simultaneous Dengue Fever outbreak in Kosrae. Since January 2016, there have been 248 Zika Virus and98 Dengue Fever cases of Zika Virus disease in Kosrae. That includes 236 Zika Cases and 98 Dengue Cases with 35% of cases overlapping both Dengue and Zika case definitions.-Onset dates of the first 3 Zika confirmed (PCR+) cases: 02/23/2016, 03/17/2016, 3/19/2016.Onset dates of the first 3 Dengue confirmed (PCR+) cases: 08/11/2016, 08/25/2016, 9/20/2016. Ages (and sex): 49, 8, 37, 18, 35, 25, respectively (all females). None with a travel history.
