Highlights

  • HURRICANE SEASON: Hurricane Patricia reached category 5 then quickly downgraded causing minor damages. Authorities report no victims; 3,500 people were evacuated and 1,075 shelters were activated.

  • FLOODS AND RAINS: In Brazil, 177,790 people are affected by floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In Guatemala 252,921 people are affected by heavy rains throughout the country.

  • HUMANITARIAN SITUATION: The Government of Venezuela issued a 60-day extension for the state of emergency in Tachira. As of 30 September, 1,768 Colombians were formally deported from Venezuela and an additional 22,194 have left of their own accord.
