SEREMBAN, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- Repair work and replacement of destroyed equipment costing RM168,000 have started at Sekolah Kebangsaan Gemas, which was badly damaged during the recent floods, said Negeri Sembilan education director Abdul Hamid Abu Hassan.

He said it was the only school in the state that experienced massive damage when floods hit Negeri Sembilan in December.

An allocation of RM88,000 had already been given to the school while an additional RM80,000 would be provided next week to replace damaged equipment like furniture and computers, he told reporters at a farewell ceremony held for him after having served as the state education director since Dec 2005.

Abdul Hamid added that the state education department received a total allocation of RM980 million this year compared to RM950 million last year.
