UN Inter-Agency Update on Syria Situation Response in Lebanon: UNHCR, June 1-8, 2012

This update provides a snapshot of the inter-agency response to the influx of Syrians into Lebanon. The response is undertaken in full coordination with the Government of Lebanon.

Highlights of the week

Numbers

Over 26,000 displaced Syrians are receiving assistance and support throughout the country, of whom 19,068 are registered.

Field visits and contact with Internal Security Forces (ISF) revealed the presence of newly arrived families in different villages in North Bekaa including Al Hermel, Al Qaa, and Mazraat Ain el Jaouze. UNHCR is following-up with the local authorities in order to confirm numbers and needs.
