The county is at recovery phase with medium drought risk . The average rainfall received was 58.17 mm which was below the normal expected ranges but SPI value of 0.13 indicates the precipitation amounts are within normal ranges. The vegetation condition index for the overall county was 47.57, which indicates no drought.

Livestock migration patterns are outside normal ranges which has contributed to Milk production falling below the LTA. Consequently this has led to of inadequate food at household level which may likely increase risks of malnutrition in children under 5 which is currently within normal. The TOT value is also within the normal range which indicates decrease in cereal prices against rising livestock prices thereby improving pastoralist’s purchasing power.

In view of the current situation, it is necessary to preparedness activities for all the sectors.
