KRCS Gives Free Medical Camps in Mt. Elgon Area

The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) through its Bungoma and Mt. Elgon Branches began carrying out free medical camps in the Mt. Elgon area from Tuesday 12th June 2012.

The free camps are targeting areas where the populations were affected by the recent floods and landslides. So far, at least 298 patients were attended to in Kopsigon, Mt. Elgon. At the same time, some 60 children received vaccination and more than 100 others got Vitamins A. Family planning services were also provided as well as VCT services. Further, health promotional talks were given and nutritional assessment done. People infested with jiggers were also attended to.Today, Wednesday 13th June 2012, the camp services will be in held in Cheptais and on Thursday 14th June 2012, in Kapsokwany, all in Mt Elgon.

On Friday 15th June 2012 and Saturday 16th June 2012, the camps will be held in Bumula and Kimilili. Last week, families affected by floods in Baringo and others in Mai Mahiu and Narok received free medical services. All are encouraged to take advantage of these free medical services.
