Update No. 3: Syria Regional Refugee Response Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey

This weekly update provides a snapshot of the United Nations and its partners’ response to the influx of Syrian refugees into Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq. The response is led by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and is undertaken in full coordination with host Governments. The next update will be issued on Thursday, 10 May 2012

I. HIGHLIGHTS

  • Two new sites for Syrian refugees have been identified in Jordan in the Al-Ramtha area: Cyber City that can accommodate up to 600 persons and King Abdullah Park that will house 80 containers with a capacity of 800 individuals.

  • NRC and DRC are moving ahead with rehabilitation work to ensure shelters are made adequate for hosting displaced Syrians in Lebanon.
