NABLUS, West Bank, Sept 30 (AFP) - A teenage Palestinian boy was shot dead Monday by heavy machine-gun fire that hit him in the head as Israeli tanks moved into a refugee camp in the West Bank city of Nablus to re-impose a curfew, a Palestinian medical source said.

The boy's name and age could not immediately be established as his head wounds made him unrecognisable, medics said.

Residents of the Balata camp had been ignoring the Israeli ceasefire -- frequently imposed on West Bank cities reoccupied by the army since June -- for the past four days.

Armed clashes also erupted across the city itself between Israeli forces and armed Palestinians, and 10 civilians were wounded, medical sources and witnesses said.
