After residents fled the volatile streets of Al-Qaem City and settled in neighboring cities and villages, LIFE for Relief and Development along with other local and international relief agencies responded quickly to the crisis.
In this second phase of distribution of relief items to Al-Qaem's internally displaced people; LIFE, in coordination with Islamic Relief, Human Relief Foundation, Human Appeal International, Iraqi Relief Society and Iraqi Medical Society, led a convoy of trucks to the area to alleviate the suffering of the IDPs.

Distribution roles were divided among the participating organizations to increase efficiency as families were given ration cards that could be redeemed for food and other emergency items. Although most of the items were given to families directly, other items were distributed among Haditha Hospital and Obaidi Hospital.

In total, 1000 mattresses, 1000 blankets, 500 mineral water cartons, 300 hygiene kits and 250 baby packages, which included milk, biscuits, baby food and diapers. The distribution also included 50 tents, 60 pallets of milk, canned food and high-energy biscuits and 75,000cartons of medical necessities and medicine.

The distribution was worth $100,000 and LIFE and its donors have pledged to do even more to help.
