At least 900 houses were destroyed and three people had lost their lives in the provinces of Hormozgan, Kerman, and Sistan-Baluchestan in the south and southeastern parts of Iran in recent floods caused by intense rainfall since late Tuesday on 19 March.

Hossein Darwishi, Acting Head of Relief and Rescue Operations said that search and rescue teams from Red Crescent provincial branches in Kerman, Hormozgan and Sistan-Baluchestan are present in the flood-hit areas to assist the affected. “1,700 people in need have received the necessary relief services, 500 people are sheltered, 55 persons were evacuated to safe areas and waters of 240 flooded housing units were also pumped out by Red Crescent forces,” he mentioned.

He added that two cities of Bandar Abbas and Roudan with 20 suburban villages and towns are partially affected by flood. “47 operational teams including 230 relief workers and rescuers are involved in relief and rescue operations of the Iranian Red Crescent in the field to provide the general public with necessary humanitarian services,” said Darwishi.
