Indonesia: Bappenas launches the e-Aceh.org in response to the need of transparency in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of NAD and Nias

Jakarta, May 9, 2005 - In response to the need of transparency and effective coordination in the implementation of the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam and Nias North Sumatera, the government of Indonesia collaborated with international donors, NGOs/CSOs & community groups, has initiated the construction of e-Aceh, a unitary information sharing portal on the rehabilitation & reconstruction of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam & Nias North Sumatera. e-Aceh is intended to be an information tool for everyone involved in the rapid and coordinated recovery process.

e-Aceh is launched by Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of State for National Development Planning/Chairperson of National Planning Development Agency on Monday, 9 May 2005, at Bappenas, Jakarta. The event is attended by Andrew Steer, Country Director of World Bank, J.B. Kristiadi, Secretary General Ministry of Finance, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, Chairman of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Implementing Agency, along with representatives from Advisory and Supervisory Board for the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam & Nias North Sumatera, Indonesian ministries and agencies, bilateral and multilateral donor agencies, mass media, society leaders, private sector, and educational sector.

e-Aceh holds a mission to serve as the government of Indonesia's unitary information sharing portal on the rehabilitation & reconstruction of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam & Nias North Sumatera to strengthen the fiduciary framework surrounding the implementation of the Rencana Induk R3WANS & to support the rapid & coordinated multi-actor recovery.

e-Aceh holds a mission to serve as the government of Indonesia's unitary information sharing portal on the rehabilitation & reconstruction of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam & Nias North Sumatera to strengthen the fiduciary framework surrounding the implementation of the Rencana Induk R3WANS & to support the rapid & coordinated multi-actor recovery.

The information available in e-Aceh includes:(i) rehabilitation & reconstruction planning & public consultation;(ii) rehabilitation & reconstruction coordination;(iii) program, projects & activity implementation;(iv) procurement information;(v) on-Budget, off-Budget & private funds tracking;(vi) complementing sectoral information;(vii) results-orientated monitoring & evaluation; (viii) situation reports; (ix) complaints handling & monitoring; (x) job & volunteer opportunities.

The key to success for e-Aceh as an information sharing and multi-actor participation vehicle depends on the support of all parties involved in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Aceh and Nias North Sumatera in sharing their information. e-Aceh require the support from media as well, since mass media will be a very powerful tool in building public awareness on the existence of e-Aceh. Let's work together to move forward into transparent and accountable implementation of rehabilitation and reconstruction of Aceh and Nias North Sumatera.=AF
