Increase in cholera cases

Detected by the Alert and Response System in the North, Northeast and Center Departments, around 200 new cases within the past two days, distributed in different villages.

The increase on cholera cases had been also identified in the South, Southeast, Nippes, Artibonite and West Departments after the Hurricane Sandy

Floods 8-9 November

Flooding after heavy rains in the departments North, Northeast and Nippes on 8-9 November caused ten deaths, mostly children and teenagers, and one person is missing. About 1,573 people are reported to be in 14 shelters. Of those, 1,335 are in the North Department, including at least 276 children and 35 pregnant women. There are 1,431 homes flooded and at least 14 destroyed.
