SUBJECT: Flooding in several regions of Guyana.

4 . AREAS AFFECTED
a. Region 1 - BARIMA-WAINI: Nothing further to report.
b. Region 2 - POMEROON-SUPENAAM: Nothing further to report.
c. Region 3 - ESSEQUIBO ISLANDS-WEST DEMERARA: The water level in the Boarasirie Conservancy remains critical at 61.80.
d. Region 4 - DEMERARA-MAHAICA: Nothing further to report.
e. Region 5 - MAHAICA-BERBICE: Nothing further to report.
f. Region 6 - EAST BERBICE-CORENTYNE: The flood water continues to recede in the affected areas. However, the RDC reported that there is approximately 4 inches of flood water in the residential areas of Haversham, Neville, Brighton, Kiltairn, Espom, Java, Bengal, Dingwall and Joppa. It is advised that the house lots in this NDC need to be built up to prevent the flooding.
g. Region 7 - CUYUNI- MAZARUNI: Nothing further to report.
h. Region 8 - POTARO-SIPARUNI: Nothing further to report.
i. Region 9 - UPPER TAKUTU-UPPER ESSEQUIBO: It was reported by the REO that there is bright sunshine throughout the region, and that the water is contained within the banks of the creeks and rivers. An engineer is presently accessing the flood damaged roads at Karasabai and Sawariwau in order to provide a report. The REO is visiting the South Central area of this region today May 21, 2012.
