Black Packs Issued to 35 Families

Thirty-five families in Orata, Nayaca, Bulileka Low Cost Housing, Namoli, Batanikama, Vunivaivai and Bobale in Labasa were assisted with Black Packs by the Fiji Red Cross Society today (14/03).

The distribution followed a thorough assessment by a team from the District Administration in Labasa, which included the Fiji Red Cross over the last two days. The families comprised of between four to six people.

Black Packs contain items of clothing, blankets, water collection containers, toiletries, insect repellents and a mini first aid kit amongst other things. Each black pack caters for a family of six (two adults and four children).

In addition, 35 to 40 people in the affected areas were also assisted with 80 blankets, which were part of a larger donation of blankets by Air Pacific to the Fiji Red Cross following the last flooding in February.

The Red Cross continues to monitor the situation and is preparing to mobilize more relief assistance to affected areas if the need arises.
