State undertakes encouraging activities in helping women give birth at health institutions

Debrebirhan April 21/2013 Health Minister Dr. Keseteberhan Admassu said encouraging activities are carried out to enable women give birth at health institutions in Amhara State. While visiting activities being carried out in the health sector in rural areas of Antsokia Gemza Woreda , North Shoa Zone of Amhara State on Saturday, the Minister said that encouraging efforts are underway in this regard in the area. Dr. Keseteberhan said activities include expansion of health facilities and training of professionals towards success of the theme 'No woman should die giving birth.' He said equipping health facilities with the necessary materials and providing ambulance services is also part of the activities to help the women give birth at health facilities. The Minister also said that he witnessed full implementation health extension program among residents during his visit. Regional health bureau head, Ayelegn Mulualem on his part said that prime attention is given to building health development forces in all areas of the state. He said construction of 70 hospitals and health stations is being carried out in the efforts to expand health facilities.
