Health service delivery getting improved in Amhara State: Bureau
Bahir Dar july 24/2012 Amhara State Health Bureau said as the expansion of health facilities underway, the health service delivery is getting improved in Amhara State.
Bureau deputy head, Ali Gebeyehu told ENA that the State has been exerting strenuous efforts over the past years to increase the number of health facilities.
He said the number of hospitals has reached to 19 which was limited to nine in 1991.
The hospitals are well furbished with human power and equipment, he said.
According to him, construction of additional 35 hospitals is underway and up on the completion of construction the hospital service coverage is expected to reach 90 percent.
The head said hospitals are sharing experience from Debretabor and Debrebirhan hospitals which are national award winners for their best service provision.
Ali said health post and health station coverage in the region has reached 96 and 93 percent respectively.
