Training conducted with a view to enhancing community-based water management in Barentu sub-zone

Barentu, 24 March 2014 – Training was given for a total of 70 nationals with a view to enhancing community-based water management in Barentu sub-zone and thereby ensuring sustainability of potable water supply projects.

Mr. Haile Asfaha called on the trainees to translate the knowledge they have acquired into practice.

Among the trainees, Mr. Mohammed Abubeker, Ms. Kedija Haj, Mr. Gebremeskel Yared and Mr. Ibrahim Dawood said that it is vital as regards ensuring efficient use of water, and that they would strive to register further impact. The fact that the training involved technical approaches of maintaining water pumps is an asset, they added.

Mr. Musie Misgina, head of housing and development in Gash-Barka region, noted the state of quandary imprudent utilization of potable water supply facilities could pose to this end, and explained that the training was organized in a bid to promoting sustainability of such projects through favoring community-involving approach.
