Augaro, 24 July 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Laelai-Gash sub-zone indicated that integrated effective rain-fed farming activities are being witnessed in the locality.
Mr. Negasi Habtemichael, head of the branch office, pointed out that 60% of the 29,000 hectare-wide agricultural area has so far been tilled through 22 private and 15 government-owned tractors, in addition to traditional ploughing activities.
Stating that traditional technique of farming has never been adequate especially as opposed to the sheer size of the locality’s farming area, Mr. Zemichael Hasema from Tekombia Administrative area said that the availability of tractors has ensured extensive agricultural farming, besides facilitating the process.
Mr. Nehemiah Jiweili and Mr. Adem Omar Adem on their part explained that they are working hard to boost production.
