TRIPOLI, Libya (PANA) - President Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire has commended the Libyan leader, Col. Moammar Khadafi for supporting his country in the ongoing war with rebels in the eastern part of the country.
In a message to the leader of the libyan revolution, published in Tripoli wednesday, Mobutu expressed the gratitude of the people of Zaire for the support.

"I was moved by the bold attitude you adopted towards my country which is currently facing an unfair war, foisted on her."

"This is part of the struggle African countries are expected to wage against the hegemony of the Western world", Mobutu said in the message reported by the Libyan press.

Khadafi had earlier expressed support for Mobutu in December last year, saying the "Zairian head of state was the only guarantee to the country's unity".

"If President Mobutu is removed from power, Zaire's fate would be the same as those of Somalia after Siad Barre and Yugoslavia after Tito.

And Zaire would then become a destabilisation centre in Africa", the Libyan leader had declared.
