Overview

In 2013, a total of 195 Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) attacks were reported as compared to 212 in 2012, with 84% of these occuring in DRC. Whereas the total number of LRA attacks declined slightly by 8% in 2013, there was a notable increase in related number of abductions (346) and deaths (73) (at 57% and 55% respectively) as compared to 2012.

The last quarter (Q4) of 2013 saw a sharp increase in LRA incidents, with DRC reporting the highest number of incidents compared with other quarters in 2013 and South Sudan reporting new LRA incidents.

Over 326,000 people remain displaced from their homes in LRA-affected areas of CAR, DRC and South Sudan.
