Introduction

A serious humanitarian crisis is ongoing in the areas affected by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) along the borders of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Central African Republic (CAR) and South Sudan. An estimated 445,000 civilians – or more than one in five of the estimated 2 million people in LRA-affected areas – are currently internally displaced or living as refugees. This situation has widespread implications for the stability of the region and the ability of communities to remain self-reliant and maintain hope for a brighter future.
