Irish Government Back WFP Nutrition Support To Women And Children In DPR Korea
The Government of Ireland has confirmed a 200,000 Euros donation to WFP’s operation in DPR Korea
The current operation “Nutrition Support to Women and Children in DPR Korea” resumed in July 2012, following an emergency operation addressing broader food needs. The cornerstone of WFP’s operation is to provide Super Cereals and nutritious biscuits to children in institutions such as nurseries, orphanages, kindergartens and schools. as well as in hospitals and to pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The cost of an average ration per day for a child or a woman is 25 cents (US$).
The support from the Government of Ireland is equal to 980,392 rations. The Irish support can ensure that nearly 33,000 women and children can receive WFP nutritional assistance daily for one month.
