The response of the Republic of Congo to the detonations of ammunition stores on 04 March 2012 continues to get increasingly effective.
Coordination of Operations
79 UXO clearance interventions have been carried out today at the impact zone. Almost 140 UXO in the area have been taken out by 7 joint EOD teams, as deployed by MAG, Handicap International, Demeter-Benin forces, ICRC/MSB, Angola forces. Each team is supported by soldiers from the Forces Armées Congolaises (FAC).
Globally, 2 tons of waste has been collected, including 100 kg of explosives. The first bulk demolition is scheduled for March 15.
